Research has shown that spending time outdoors is beneficial to both physical and mental health, but in a place like Arlington, outdoor space is at a premium. That’s why even small areas overseen by the public park system can be so important to the community. Rock Spring Park—despite its petite, 2-acre size—is one of the community’s most beloved green spaces. Its babbling brook, paved trail, and generous tree cover make the park an attractive destination for neighbors walking their dogs, going out for a run or a bike ride, or just looking to sit by the creek awhile and listen to the birds in the trees. You can access the park from the south by entering at the intersection of George Mason Drive and Yorktown Boulevard, or from the north at Little Falls Road. The park is open from dawn until dusk.
