Three college friends who met at Mount St Mary’s — Bill Bayne, Art Dougherty, and Jim Madden — teamed up in 1994 to open Crystal City Sports Pub as a place where friends could gather to have a few beers, shoot some pool, and catch the big game. In 2003, the team at Crystal City Sports Pub were happy to renovate and expand the 23rd street location near Concord Crystal City, making the pub a multi-level facility that features enormous projection screens, dozens of flat-screen televisions, and top-quality sound. In fact, locals call it one of the best places to watch large sporting events, like the March tournament or the World Cup, because of the energetic atmosphere and the number of screens.
As for the food, regular visitors recommend the burgers (especially the brunch burger), the steak bites, and the selection of local beers. The pub also hosts several local alumni clubs for group watching parties; check the website to see whether your alma mater is on the list.
